Approximately 19 km from Leh, Thiksey Monastery is one of the most spectacularly located and architecturally stunning monasteries in Ladakh. As you make your way down, you will encounter crystal-clear streams meandering through the valley, surrounded by shady willow trees. Day 8

After breakfast at the camp start your trek which is beginning with a gradual ascent between two hillocks west of the village. The trail then veers south and climbs steeply toward Mebtak La (3,750m), a scenic mountain pass adorned with colourful prayer flags, marking the highest point of the day's journey. From the pass, the trail descends through a rugged gorge, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As you make your way down, you will arrive at Ang Village, a charming settlement known for its lush apricot orchards and traditional Ladakhi homes. Day 9

After an early breakfast, begin your trek westward, descending gently through a lush green valley. After approximately one and a half hours, arrive at Tinmosgang Village, home to one of the oldest palaces in Leh, offering a glimpse into the region's rich heritage. The journey continues through the charming villages of Tia and Charcha, following a jeep track that winds its way through the scenic landscape. The trail then gradually ascends towards the base of Skindiyang Pass (4,060m). As you climb, the terrain transitions into a stark, boulder-strewn landscape, an area known for its elusive Snow Leopards and Blue Sheep. Reaching a col at 3,927m, you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of the dramatic wilderness surrounding you. A gentle 45-minute climb takes you to the summit of Skindiyang Pass, where prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze. From here, the trail descends into a dry valley, leading towards a series of chortens (Buddhist shrines) perched above Skindiyang Village. Day 10

After breakfast at the camp, embark on a scenic drive back to Leh, stopping at two of Ladakh's most revered monasteries—Rizong Gompa and Alchi Monastery. Nestled in a remote valley, Rizong Monastery is known as the "Paradise for Meditation." Unlike other monasteries, there is no entry fee, and visitors can offer donations as per their wish. It is believed that Guru Padma Sambhava meditated here for several years, making it a spiritually significant site.
